Studio on the Shore

Your cozy retreat on the stunning West Coast of Scotland

In 2022 Ute Amann, curator and host of immersive creative travel experiences, set up Studio on the Shore in her village of Innellan to offer a safe and inspiring place for curious travellers for all over the world.

Studio on the Shore consists of a living space with stunning sea views – which can be used as a working artist studio-, a bedroom for 1-2 guests (one double bed) with sea views, a fully equipped kitchen and a shower room – all newly renovated to a high standard and tastefully furnished. There’s a little outside seating area with table and chairs in the backyard.

You’ll find some basic art equipment such as a folding easel, table easel, painting board for A3 paper, cutting mat, water container, palette, masking tape. The apartment has superfast wifi and a washer dryer. Bed linen and towels are provided, so are hand soap and body wash. There is no TV but the wifi is good for streaming on your own devices.

You can also pre-arrange a workshop with one of the makers in Innellan or nearby when you plan your trip. Ute will be happy to put you in touch with local artists offering painting, pottery, textile art, poetry or silversmithing. If you’re a yogi you can join a local yoga class on a drop-in basis.

Innellan can easily be accessed by public transport and the Scottish mainland is only a 20 minute ferry ride away.

A small share from every booking goes to a group of local volunteers who work all year round to make the village even more beautiful -by planting things, maintaining green spaces, looking after local wildlife and so on.
