Women Welcome Women World Wide (5W)

An Organisation of International Friendship for Women

Celebrating 35 Years of Friendship and Travel Around the World

Women Welcome Women World Wide (5W) has so much to offer its members around the world, encouraging friendship and travel in a totally unique way. You can forget the usual tourist routes and enjoy visiting other members in their homes, experiencing a different culture and way of life through the eyes of local women. This is a wonderful way to make new friends around the world, requesting a visit to another member and maybe welcoming others into your own home.

Many JourneyWomen recommend 5W, as it’s called, with great fondness. Founded in 1984, 5W is a ‘friendship-based’ model where you can visit or host other women in their homes. There are over 2,000 members in every continent except Antarctica. The Women Welcome Women World Wide community is still mourning the loss of beloved founder Frances Alexander, who passed away in September 2020.

An essential condition of membership is to sign the promise of confidentiality, and agree to rules of general courtesy, consideration and common sense. If you can’t host another woman, there is a ‘day host’ option. To join, there is an annual fee of £37 ($51USD/$67CDN) and a renewal fee of £27 a year, with an option for a friendship donation. Women Welcome Women World Wide members range in age from 18 to 80+ and come from all walks of life – housewives, students, retired, business, professional, artists, farmers, office workers, unemployed, etc, etc. They have one thing in common – a wish to befriend women from other parts of the world.
