Raise a glass for Veronique!

Veronique Bourrigaud - Jeni Martinez - International Women's Day 2023
About this submission:
“Veronique Bourrigaud along with her husband Pascal represent the 8th generation of a family-owned winery, a rarity in St. Emilion these days, where many wineries are now owned by large conglomerates. Pascal is the wine maker and Veronique is responsible for wine tourism, including hosting wine tastings and gourmet lunches paired with their various wines. Their children, son Guillaume and daughter Auriane, are the ninth generation and the future of this small winery. In September of 2021, we hosted our first Wine & Poses Yoga Retreat in Bergerac, France. One of our retreat excursions was to the Chateau-Champion Winery where we met Veronique. She gave us a tour of their property and taught us how to see, sniff and swirl before our first sip of each of their amazing wines. Her hospitality, knowledge and attention to details, the exquisite gourmet lunch served in the garden overlooking the vineyard, and of course, the wine proved to be a winning combination. We raise a glass for Veronique!”
What is your company doing to support women?
Jeni’s Global Yoga Trips seeks to boost local, women or family-owned businesses wherever we go. We strongly believe that the culture and well-being of any particular area is best served by supporting the businesses with strong local history and connections. We always look for women-owned retreat centers, female restaurateurs and hiking guides, whenever possible. Our retreats are not exclusively open to women but women make up a majority of our clients. Creating experiences that not only support the local communities that we visit but also feel safe, nurturing and exciting for our clients is our priority.
What can women travellers do to support other women when they travel?
Follow travel sites like JourneyWomen and Girls Love Travel. Share information about travel on social media to encourage and inspire other women to travel. Invite a friend who might be new to traveling alone, to go with you on an adventure. Introduce young women- daughters, nieces, cousins- to traveling to help create a lifelong adventurer. Sponsor a woman who doesn’t have the means to travel. Share your travel stories…the more women that hear about your adventures, the better. Maybe you will inspire them to make sustainable, local-minded, eco-friendly travel a priority. Let’s go!
