The Voyagiste Artisan Tour of Morocco: weavers

Weavers - The Voyagiste
About this submission:
“On this trip, our group visited Afous Ghafous, woman-run association of weavers in southern Morocco. The women showed us how their rugs are made from carding the wool to dying and weaving it and then made a delicious lunch for us despite the fact that they were fasting for Ramadan. Despite a language barrier, we were able to understand each other and at the end of the visit, some of our group returned home with a few of the rugs you see in this picture.”
What is your company doing to support women?
The Voyagiste is a woman-powered business with a goal to empower women and so wherever we go, we prioritize working with women-run organizations and businesses.
What can women travellers do to support other women when they travel?
An easy way to support other women is looking through the Journey Woman directory: by definition, booking a trip through any one of the companies featured in the directory will support other women in one way or another. If you’re planning your own trip, seek out women guides as well as local women-run businesses like restaurants, shops, hotels. It’s so easy to find them nowadays: just Google women-led business in the place you’re interested in finding them and voilà!
