When we nurture craft Makers we help to foster a thoughtful, kind and connected society. Who doesn’t want to create that kind of legacy? I believe women are uniquely positioned to create such a legacy: they are visionaries, community builders, nurturers, fearless innovators.

I launched the travel arm of the company at the request of my female clients who wanted to explore the world through the prism of crafts in a relaxed, friendly and fun environment. There is a certain magic, an intangible je-ne-sais-quoi that happens when women travel together; somehow it deepens the experience and the connections we make. We know how to take the time, savour the moment, pay attention to the little things that make the difference. – Isabelle Fish, Rue Pigalle

I founded Rue Pigalle in 2010 as a platform to support and advocate for crafts and the Makers by connecting them to people who appreciate and value their work. Travel is one of the ways we create such connections.

I grew up in France and have lived in many countries. I have called Canada my home for the past 20 years and now I live in a small village on the shores of Lake Ontario with my family.

I offer bespoke trips to France and the UK featuring access to fascinating ateliers, behind-the-scenes gallery tours with industry experts, and exclusive money-can’t-buy activities and experiences. It is well known that artisans do not seek the spotlight, jealously guarding the quiet of their studio to get into the flow of their creativity. They are also fiercely protective of their savoir-faire, acquired from their masters and thousands of hours of practice. Over the years, I have built relationships with the artisans who trust me to share their work and their stories with my guests in a private and personal setting true to their practice.

The group is limited to 10 guests maximum.

I have personally vetted every hotel, restaurant and other locations we visit and pay great attention to the little details that can make or break a trip. I partner with a woman-owned boutique travel agent for hotel and transportation bookings.

The daily pace is gentle while a certain structure to the day ensures that we do as much as we can without being rushed (slow travel is important to me).

Activities are varied and tailored to the places we visit. From workshop with an artisan to cooking with a chef, walking with a historian, accessing the private home of a collector or having a museum to yourself, I cultivate diversity, surprise and expertise in the itinerary.

Guests come from all over the world. Whether solo travellers or with a friend, I ensure that everyone feels welcome and included.
