Small Group Tours by The Traveling Professor

Carefully Curated Small-Group Tours

People often ask me, “How did you start this amazing career?” The answer is a journey as unique as the destinations we visit. Over 15 years ago, while travelling with friends to Florence, Italy, I met Steve Solosky, who was travelling with a group on a separate trip. That chance meeting turned into a life-changing partnership.  After retiring from our jobs and getting married, we decided to create the kind of dream job everyone imagines—one built around a shared passion for travel. Together, we launched our “Second Act” retirement career: leading small group tours to the world’s most unforgettable destinations.

Since then, we’ve guided thousands of travellers to Paris, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Scotland, Iceland, Norway, Machu Picchu and Peru, Ireland, the Normandy Invasion Beaches, and across Canada. Our inspiring story has been recognized by major media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, MoneyNing, Newsday, and WCBS Radio. We’ve also been featured at The New York Times Travel Show and on America’s #1 Travel Radio Show, RMWorldTravel with Robert & Mary Carey. Today, The Traveling Professor continues to design carefully curated small group tours that combine expert guidance, cultural immersion, and personal connection—turning every trip into an unforgettable travel experience.

Pack Your Bags! Let's Go!

Our travel company emphasizes small-group tours — typically about 12–16 adults per trip — because this creates a more personal, friendly, and manageable experience than large “mass tourism” trips.

We are most proud of our ability to foster a sense of community among travelers:  many people who travel with us form lasting friendships and often travel again on more Traveling Professor tours or on their own.

Our tours attract active adults, seniors, couples, solo travelers, and women traveling alone or with friends. We are friendly, supportive, and caring — making travel accessible and enjoyable for people who may not want to go on large, impersonal group tours.
