About Villaggio Tours
Villaggio Tours was conceived in 2023 by my husband Paolo and me, as we’ve long wanted to launch a tourism focused venture that give guests an authentic small-town Italy experience while providing an economic shot in the arm to our tiny village in Umbria. We want our guests to feel like they’re visiting their long-lost friends and family in Italy, and we love for them to see how connected we are as a community, both to our history and to the natural terrain all around us. We also created our tours as an alternative to the overtourism that is happening in Italy and elsewhere in Europe.
A friend of mine characterizes it as “the Italy that leaves you wanting versus Italy that leaves you wanting more” and I really like that analogy.
Our Unique Tour Offerings
Our guests join us in Allerona, the 12th-century Umbrian village we call home. We treat all guests like family, with activities that bring you into our homes and those of our friends and extended family, to our olive fields and vineyards, and to cantinas, palazzos and cozy kitchens, where you’ll learn to cook with a nonna and zia (auntie) or two — or at least help out with wine tasting. We prioritize cultural encounters, traditional food and wine experiences, and real connections that help travelers understand the Umbrian way of life — all while having the vacation of a lifetime.
Our tours are fully escorted and nearly all-inclusive, save for a meal or two on your own. Once you get yourself to Italy, we take care of everything, from private transfers to accommodations, meals, wine and other drinks, guided tours and experiences, and a dedicated tour organizer and translator with you the whole time. We limit our tours to 12 guests and offer you immersive experiences with the area’s best artisans, food and wine purveyors, restaurant owners, and guides. But we might be biased — in our village, most people are family.
Our signature tours focus on our village in Umbria and surrounding points of interest, but we also offer tours with extensions to Rome, Venice and coastal Tuscany. Custom tours are available, too.
