Join hosts Laura & Colin of Intent on Safari for a Northern Tanzania Safari!

May & November are both considered movement months for the annual wildebeest migration, and are mirror images of each other.

In May, the wet season is coming to an end. When the rains stop, the wildebeest migration begins the long trek back through the central Serengeti plains and north towards the Mara River.

You can expect this time of year to be green, and a possible shower, but don’t forget rain means game.

In November, it’s the end of the dry season. The rains are expected to start, and the wildebeest are on their way south from the Mara River, heading towards the short grass plains of the Ndutu area. Rather than the greens of the wet season, you can enjoy the golds, yellows, and browns of the dry season. This time of year, there is also a chance of a shower, but you likely feel that the land and the animals all can’t wait for the rains to start, and begin to welcome this idea yourself.

Both months, whilst quite different, are excellent for wildlife sightings. As they are on the cusp of big holiday seasons, they are quieter (low season), which means there is a good chance you will not have to share sightings with an abundance of other cars and tourists.

Certainly, our favourite times of the year to be on safari, and we cannot wait to share the experience with you.
