Supporting Female Guides

Tour guides who work for Maggie's Tour Company in Tanzania stand together with their safari jeep.
About this submission:
“We are hiring and working working with females, supporting their EDUCATION to learn to become safari guides and this includes to get them licenses and guiding tools like binoculars and books. I also make sure they get skills and experiences so they can be free to choose to work with other people too and to start their own business of their dreams and empower other females from the grassroots. Rachel and Glory are good example of more than 8 females that we work with. They are also mechanics, first aiders, drivers, story tellers etc.”
What is your company doing to support women?

We care for our client’s HEALTH and us too. We started vegetable organic gardens in some villages like Machame, Malala which is Moshi Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions but also Manyara region with women’s groups and we buy for part of the safari meals. We also buy peanuts and other products as much as we can. For the clients who choose to do shopping, we do take them to the women’s group that I founded via www.darewomensfoundation.org and this means we support BUSINESS to the female guides and women’s groups.

Through CONSERVATION; we empower women by collecting plastic water bottles that have been used by some safari companies who do are not much aware of reusable water bottles and environmental friendly water containers which is not good for our environment. Collecting plastic water bottles and make chairs and we buy chairs and women benefit by getting income which they take to pay school for their children, food, hospital, plantation of trees but also bring voices to the women to decide even for their bodies. VOICES!

ACCOMMODATIONS always we value those Lodges, campsites, Hotels and so on that are environmental friendly but those who gives back to the communities surrounds them. We also making sure the accommodations are either owned by women or women in one or the other way are the part of it.

FREEDOM OF STORY TELLING; We do empowering women through providing opportunities around the camp fire while watching moon and stars and we include moment of silence as most women do not have the right places of sharing stories. Through stories we learn from each other and empower each others more.

What can women travellers do to support other women when they travel?
Open their ears to listen and to understand their need as women know what they need based on where they leave and many other situations.

I see many men who own safari Companies they have travel agency who brings clients, I am glad that we women gave this one of the amazing platform and we are hoping the world to support and empower this platform to support and empower us to get more clients. Needs more marketing ways. Different ways of marketing.

Transportation is very important and it is very expensive. Women can work together to get resources to other women like safari trucks, binocular, books and so on.

Visit Non government Organization that we found and fund but also engage and interact with Communities.

Raise awareness

The word of mouth as you go to talk about us

Be part of Conservations. Spread informations about environment as you travel. This includes carrying reusable water bottles etc.

Be ready to share your stories and experiences and skills around the camp fire with other women.
Two women stop to take a photo while on a hiking trip. Traveling more sustainably is one way women can make a difference in travel.
