Wanderlust Solo Womens Travel - IWD 2023 New Zealand
About this submission:
“Our retreat programs facilitate a safe space for women that have a longing for new experiences and new horizons, yet may be new to solo travel.

Eschewing the 6am starts and jam-packed schedules often associated with a retreat, Wanderlust Solo Women’s Tours is about enjoying and savouring the best things in life, alongside like-minded company.

Our retreats encourage guests to be themselves; to relax, destress and try something new. Here, guests are welcome to tip toe out of their usual comfort zones, knowing they are within a supportive community every step of the way.

The goal is to empower women by building confidence and friendships through travel experiences. Guests may start off as strangers, but leave with a close circle of new-found friends.

With your host being a long-time local to the breathtaking Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand, Gina is able to share the unique magic of this area with her guests.

Plenty of nature and wilderness is guaranteed, alongside time and space to cosy up and completely unwind. On retreat we love to try new things, maybe get out of your comfort zone, but most of all have fun! Here we are getting creative with pottery making, at a local artisan potters.”
What is your company doing to support women?
We aim to empower YOU, to build confidence and friendships through travel experiences. You are not just another booking, you are part of a community of supporting, like-mind women. Many women wish to travel and explore the world, however they may have no-one to accompany them or they feel nervous or anxious about venturing out on their own. There are also common trepidations around ‘not fitting in’ or feeling ‘too old’ to travel or go on retreat. Our goal is to give you a space where you feel like you belong and can be YOU. Also, part of our ethos we love supporting other women in business, and embrace community based tourism. We offer authentic retreat experiences in Bali, New Zealand and Cook Islands.
What can women travellers do to support other women when they travel?
Choose women owned and operated tourism businesses or ethical organisations that are supporting local women’s welfare. Choose female guides or drivers, get to know the women in the communities you travel in with slower more conscious travel. Importantly supporting each other, we are all going through different journeys and travel for many reasons, but finding encouragement from other female travellers can form life-long friendships.
