“Many menstruators are confined to their home during their monthly flow due to lack of protection and are often shamed by society. Delivering these kits empowers the girls and women who receive them by having the ability to manage their menstrual health with dignity. This photo is from a distribution of 75 kits at a local school in the Masai Mara, Kenya. Here I teamed up with a Kenyan Days for Girls Enterprise that provided employment to those who sewed the kits. It’s always a win-win-win to be able to distribute these kits and provide the important educational component that goes with them. But, the genuine smiles and shy “thank you” from the girls are always the most gratifying!”
I’m passionate about exploring the world and delivering culturally rich, authentic, travel experiences. Giving back to the communities I visit makes travel more meaningful and improves sustainability for those who reside there. One of the ways I give back is by teaming up with Days for Girls, a global organization that sews washable menstrual kits. Each kit is designed to provide menstrual protection for a minimum of 3 years.
