Animal Experience International is a B Corp that helps students, professionals and animal lovers find international volunteer experiences with animals.

Co-Founder Dr. Heather Reid has 20 years’ experience as a wildlife vet. She has worked in Canada’s busiest wildlife rehabilitation hospital and has seen the enormous help that volunteers can bring to organizations. She is excited to take the skills of enthusiastic volunteers to animal organizations around the world. Nora Livingstone has volunteered with animals in such places as Nepal, Thailand and Costa Rica. She loves the idea of empowering people to live their dreams and travel while helping animals.

“I founded Animal Experience International with my friend Heather. In 2011, there wasn’t a group out there that was talking about ethical travel, about volunteering with animals. When we talk about authentic travel, we can’t have that when there’s no consent from animals.” – Nora Livingstone, Co-Founder, Animal Experience International

Our Experience

Through our consent-based tourism model, we make sure everyone is comfortable and confident every step of the way- including the animals! Wildlife sanctuaries, scientific research stations, dog rescues, horse centres are looking for your help. We give you the option to travel with us in a small group or go solo with our support!

Featured Destinations

Volunteering with animals can lead you to some amazing places- the steppes of Mongolia, the jungles of Guatemala, the beaches of Malawi and that’s just in 2021! We have more than 20 different programs we have visited first to make sure your volunteering is safe, ethical and authentically helping the animals and the local community.
