Experience Antarctica - Wild Women Expeditions

Antarctica Explorer: Discovering the 7th Continent

Wild Women Expeditions

Antarctica is synonymous with indelible, extraordinary experiences. An expedition to the 7th continent is buoyed by whales, the rush of calving glaciers and the animated company of penguins! Write your own enviable history by navigating the famed Drake Passage like the legendary explorers of the past aboard the luxe polar-class 128-passenger Ocean Adventurer (it has Rolls-Royce engines!). Explore the surreal treeless landscape by Zodiac and on foot–the biodiversity above and below is enormous! Expect up close and personal encounters with wildlife (the surprises are at every turn) and equally balanced time of quiet reflection in the unforgettable embrace of the frozen frontier. Mingle, tingle. Meditate, celebrate. Throughout this utopian voyage, the polymath polar Expedition Team will present riveting workshops on wildlife behavior, marine biology, geology, glaciology, ornithology and Antarctic history. The beauty of this trip is that it’s free-form, allowing you to totally customize and curate your perfect adventure with the options that best suit your curiosities and passions. You can choose to kayak in the still sanctuaries of the inlets or keep your neck on swivel with binoculars or a wide lens attached to your smiling face. This unforgettable chapter of your life will have its very own soundtrack and precious memory reel. There are countless reasons to visit the 7th continent but for starters: chinstrap, Adélie and gentoo penguins; humpbacks, minkes and orcas and Weddell, fur, crabeater and leopard seals! Bird nerd alert: You can finally tick off that albatross box and remove the albatross from around your neck! Take the polar plunge, chill out and spoil all your senses with a destination that delivers 10 days of suspended bewilderment and non-stop beauty.
South Georgia, Antarctica - Wild Women Expeditions

South Georgia and Antarctic Peninsula: Penguin Safari

Wild Women Expeditions

If you already know that a group of penguins on land is called a ‘waddle’ and that a group of penguins in the water is referred to as a ‘raft’ then you’re probably a mini expert and fan. Want to join our ‘huddle’ and visit the island with one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife on the planet? On South Georgia island, penguins number in the hundreds of thousands. There are a lot of waddles and they blanket the beaches as far as the eye can see. (This is not the ideal place to play Beach Blanket Bingo!) King penguins and elephant seals appear in overwhelming numbers on the fabled island linked to the indefatigable explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton. The Penguin Safari is the fastest way to get to the seldom-visited South Georgia Island while also setting foot on the coveted 7th continent. It’s truly an Out of Africa safari experience complete with elephant seals! Birders will get their binocular fill too. Expect a daily feed of the mighty albatross and intricately patterned pintado petrels. These seabirds love to guide the way, swooping and soaring around the luxe Ocean Adventurer like reliable wingmen. Wingwomen? Whether you are hiking in the shadows of a glacier or keeping pace with an inquisitive gentoo, chinstrap or Adélie penguin, you’ll be forever changed. The surreal Antarctica landscape unfolds like the stanzas of a poem. It must be digested slowly, with reflection. It’s staggering. Each Zodiac excursion offers countless opportunities to witness life above and below the surface in indelible encounters. You can explore the rugged, resilient peninsula by sea kayak or experience the treeless terrain on foot. Or, plunge right into the Antarctic Ocean to truly embrace the bracing waters. Did you know that penguins have two days dedicated to them every year? January 20th is Penguin Awareness Day and April 25th is World Penguin Day. Make 2024 the year that you choose to celebrate them in their company! *Tuxedos not required.

Falklands, South Georgia, the Antarctic - Wild Women Expeditions

Falklands South Georgia and Antarctica Explorers and Kings

Wild Women Expeditions

It’s rare that you can combine such juxtapositions as consorting with king penguins and nursing a pint in a twee English village. The Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica navigation is a blend of otherworldly ice, dunes, biodiverse beaches, ghosts and graves. For birders, the jagged cliffs teem with species in a cacophony that reminds of the undisturbed wildness of the utopian isles.
