Natural Treasures of Costa Rica

An aerial view of Punta León, showcasing its rugged coastline, sandy beaches, and pristine ocean waters.

Welcome to Aurora Expeditions’ Natural Treasures of Costa Rica voyage.

Costa Rica, meaning ‘rich coast’, is a nature lover’s paradise. While it is a small country, Costa Rica contains approximately 6 percent of the world’s biodiversity.

The country has strong environmental conservation policies, protecting its natural beauty. And approximately a quarter of the land is preserved jungle. This gives us a unique opportunity to explore these protected areas. We are fortunate to explore the region by both land and sea. During our journey, we hope to observe diverse and unique wildlife. Each moment offers a chance to encounter species that make this area so special. This includes indigenous birds and animals like the Marbled Wood Quail, hummingbirds, and toucans. As we explore, we may also spot spider monkeys, iguanas, and sloths. With some luck, we could even see the rare and endangered Scarlet Macaw.

Natural Treasures of Costa Rica Highlights:

• Enjoy hikes among some of the most biodiverse rainforests on earth, a chance to encounter wildlife including sloths, howler, spider, capuchin and squirrel monkeys
• Keep your eyes and ears tuned for the regal Scarlet Macaws at Curú National Wildlife Refuge
• Learn about the conservation efforts of Costa Rica as they continue to protect their precious corner of the earth
• Pack your binoculars and spot an exquisite array of wildlife whilst hiking or participating in our included water activities
