Places to Stay

Find a locally owned, women-friendly place to stay here

How this works: This is a free to use, in service to women seeking recommended accommodations. To do this, we need your help. Share your recommendations. Invite other women to participate. Help us build this into a trusted place to find and share women-friendly places to stay around the world.

1. To find a place to stay, use the bar on the left to search by city, state/province or country. You will need to select the country first before seeing the available cities. If the city isn’t listed that means it hasn’t been populated yet, so we need your recommendations! The more we have the better this is!

2. To add a recommended accommodation, use the green button below. To submit a place to stay, you must agree that it is not your own or one you have a financial interest in. All listings must be available on a third-party booking platform (eg Airbnb, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Trusted Housesitters, etc) so that women can review the details, including safety and accessibility information. Private or residential listings are not accepted. All listings will be reviewed and ownership checked prior to publishing the listing. Our goal is to have new listings up within 72 hours, assuming all information has been provided on the form.

3. Sponsored listings: Those listings with a pink background are paid listings from our partners, who have undergone a verification process and help us offer this service at no charge to you. Advertisers are invited to join our directory here.

Disclaimer: This is provided as a service to women. We are not involved in the booking process, nor do we accept responsibility for any issues that may arise. We welcome your feedback at [email protected].

A beautiful room at the Cape Grace Hotel overlooking the Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa, recommended as a safe place for women to stay by JourneyWoman reader Gayle.

Cape Grace Hotel

Standing at the heart of the V&A Waterfront is a figure that evokes familiarity, comfort and a sense
of adventure – Cape Grace is a timeless presence. With rooms gazing out onto the harbour, marina,
or the majestic silhouette of Table Mountain, this grand hotel feels as if it has always been part of
the landscape. Every visit, even the first, truly feels like a homecoming.

Old Colorado Inn

This is the place I always stay when I visit my hometown of Stuart. It’s family-run (ask for Steven) and is in the heart of Old Stuart, near restaurants, bars and shopping. Don’t bother with Hutchinson Island chain hotels – you’ll have a much more local and unique experience here. Includes breakfast, there are also cottages for rent all rooms have kitchens.

The Hotel Hannong in Strasbourg, France-shown lit up at night-is a women friendly accommodation recommended by JourneyWoman readers.

I love it because it’s chic, laid-back, unpretentious, clean, convenient and quiet! The breakfast is amazing and offers a wide selection.
Even a pick vegan or vegetarian will find something! And it is steps to Kleber Place. It’s also got these great family rooms (more like a
loft) with really nice views over the city.

Hacienda El Porvenir by Tierra del Volcan

Submitted by: Carolyn

This family-owned hacienda is near Cotopaxi Volcano, just outside Quito. It has an amazing story – the land was purchased by a visionary widow five generations ago and in 1999, her descendants, Maria and Jorge, opened it to visitors. They have transformed it into a transformational and sustainable retreat place, with local food, providing new career paths to many in the community. Stay a few days, see the volcano, ride horses and enjoy nature. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Encanto-Jalatlaco

Encanto Jalatlaco

This is about a 10-minute from Santo Domingo and is in Jalatlaco, one of the prettiest barrios in Oaxaca. It’s very quiet and safe, with everything on one floor. There is a rooftop patio accessible through the house with nice views of the city.

The Times Hostel on College Street is one of Dublin’s most popular hostel locations, probably due in most part to its excellent location which is within easy reach of Trinity College, Temple Bar, and Grafton Street.
