Places to Stay

Find a locally owned, women-friendly place to stay here

How this works: This is a free to use, in service to women seeking recommended accommodations. To do this, we need your help. Share your recommendations. Invite other women to participate. Help us build this into a trusted place to find and share women-friendly places to stay around the world.

1. To find a place to stay, use the bar on the left to search by city, state/province or country. You will need to select the country first before seeing the available cities. If the city isn’t listed that means it hasn’t been populated yet, so we need your recommendations! The more we have the better this is!

2. To add a recommended accommodation, use the green button below. To submit a place to stay, you must agree that it is not your own or one you have a financial interest in. All listings must be available on a third-party booking platform (eg Airbnb, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Trusted Housesitters, etc) so that women can review the details, including safety and accessibility information. Private or residential listings are not accepted. All listings will be reviewed and ownership checked prior to publishing the listing. Our goal is to have new listings up within 72 hours, assuming all information has been provided on the form.

3. Sponsored listings: Those listings with a pink background are paid listings from our partners, who have undergone a verification process and help us offer this service at no charge to you. Advertisers are invited to join our directory here.

Disclaimer: This is provided as a service to women. We are not involved in the booking process, nor do we accept responsibility for any issues that may arise. We welcome your feedback at [email protected].

I stayed in Hotel Landhus last summer for around $100/night. Right on the tram and good basic accommodation.

The sleek, white sleeping pods of the Casa Ibarrola hostel in Pamploma, Spain, recommended as a safe place for women to stay by a JourneyWoman reader.

Casa Ibarrola, Spain

I giggled when I saw the pods, and thought they were so interesting. Streamlined, white and modern. I had heard of pods in Japan but had not experienced one. It had a communal kitchen where you could buy and cook dinner for yourself or share with others, free breakfast, rain forest showers, laundry, and did I mention the cool pods to sleep in that had their lockable cubby, two power outlets, a light, and pulldown blind for privacy?

It also had wifi. Everything was so clean, new, modern, and bright. The experience was the best I encountered on the Camino and a welcome surprise. Check-in was at 11:00 am and check out at 9:00 am the next day. All for 18€ per night.”

My scale for the Camino is vastly different from other trips and stays because of the transient and shared accommodations nature of the pilgrimage walk, but this one stood out head and shoulders above all Camino stays.

The King William IV Country Inn & Restaurant

It is a charming English Pub and Guest quarters. The staff are warm, welcoming, and treat you individually. The room comes with a great breakfast, your choice from an “English full” to boiled eggs with sides. The pub food is great! They have a good variety of quality food.

For me what stood out was the care the staff took with the guests.

A well-lit suite at Aloft Hotel Delhi Aerocity in Delhi, India, recommended as a safe place for women to stay.

Aloft Hotel

I stayed at the Aloft Hotel when I transited out of Delhi at midnight this spring. I was able to arrange transport through the hotel and then was able to call the hotel when I couldn’t find the ride. Businessmen fly in and out there for half-day visits and there is a whole system of cars run by the hotels. It felt very safe since the hotel was taking care of it.
