About Villaggio Tours
Villaggio Tours was conceived in 2023 by my husband Paolo and me. We wanted to launch a tourism venture that offers an authentic small-town Italy experience. Our goal is to provide an economic boost to our tiny village in Umbria. We want guests to feel like they’re visiting long-lost friends and family. Additionally, we love showing how connected our community is to its history and natural surroundings. Furthermore, we created our tours as an alternative to the overtourism affecting Italy and other European destinations.
A friend of mine characterizes it as “the Italy that leaves you wanting versus Italy that leaves you wanting more” and I really like that analogy.
Our Unique Tour Offerings
Our guests join us in Allerona, the 12th-century Umbrian village we call home. We treat all guests like family. Our activities invite you into our homes and those of our friends. You will visit our olive fields, vineyards, cantinas, and palazzos. You’ll learn to cook in cozy kitchens with a nonna and zia (auntie) or two. Alternatively, you might help out with wine tasting. We prioritize cultural encounters, traditional food, and wine experiences. Ultimately, we create real connections that help travelers understand the Umbrian way of life while having the vacation of a lifetime.
Our tours are fully escorted and nearly all-inclusive. You are responsible for only a meal or two on your own. Once you arrive in Italy, we take care of everything. This includes private transfers, accommodations, meals, wine, and other drinks. Additionally, we provide guided tours, experiences, and a dedicated tour organizer. A translator accompanies you the whole time. We limit our tours to 12 guests. This allows for immersive experiences with the area’s best artisans, food and wine purveyors, restaurant owners, and guides. However, we might be biased; in our village, most people are family.
Our signature tours focus on our village in Umbria and surrounding points of interest, but we also offer tours with extensions to Rome, Venice and coastal Tuscany. Custom tours are available, too.
