Empowering Women, One Edventure at a Time

“I’ve always been a dreamer, and I’m grateful to have been surrounded by people who believed in my bold ideas. That belief inspired me to create Green Edventures—a way to help women pursue their dreams of exploring the world like a NatGeo Explorer while forming meaningful connections with like-minded Edventure Buddies.

When women come together, something extraordinary happens—they lift each other up, inspire courage, and encourage one another to step out of their comfort zones to achieve what once felt impossible. Whether it’s through affirmations, a high-five, or holding a hand, these simple gestures carry a powerful message: ‘You can do this.'”

Founded in 2009 by environmental educator and guide Tara Short, we at Green Edventures are passionate about creating educational, eco-friendly group travel experiences that inspire you to connect deeply with nature, culture, and wildlife. After seven years of guiding in the Bahamas and Costa Rica, Tara used her last $1,000 to establish our company with a mission to protect people, places, and ecosystems through sustainable educational tours. Her vision continues to drive everything we do, making Green Edventures a leader in educational eco tours for women’s travel adventures, and educational tours for student groups.

Our women’s eco-tours are thoughtfully designed with beginners in mind, yet offer plenty of opportunities for seasoned travelers to feel challenged and engaged. By partnering with locally owned operators and expert guides, we create immersive itineraries that build confidence, promote learning, ignite a sense of place, and foster meaningful connections with the natural world.

Our adventures span breathtaking destinations and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. You can snorkel with whale sharks in Baja Mexico’s Sea of Cortez, hike wild paths in East Greenland, explore the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica to learn about medicinal plants, witness the Great Migration in Tanzania’s Serengeti, or see Alaska like a local on a multi-sport. Some of our most unique tours are science-based, including helping with coral restoration in Roatán, learning about Yellowstone’s wolves while supporting wolf conservation, and directly supporting wildlife conservation such as trekking in Uganda to see Mountain Gorillas.

We have a special love for Iceland, offering a variety of authentic women-centered trips that bring our travelers to Iceland again and again with us such as our women’s Iceland Hot Springs & mindfulness retreats, women’s Iceland knitting tours, and women’s Iceland eco-adventures and hiking tours that immerse you in Iceland’s stunning landscapes and unique culture led by expert Icelandic guides.

According to hundreds of glowing reviews from our travelers, what sets us apart is the educational value of our tours, the seamless organization of activities, and our unwavering dedication to sustainable tourism. Guests consistently praise our caring, knowledgeable guides who make every trip unforgettable. Many also highlight the camaraderie they experience, forming lifelong friendships with like-minded women while exploring extraordinary destinations.

Green Edventures operates as a fully licensed travel agency and adheres to all seller-of-travel laws. This ensures your travel investment is managed responsibly, offering peace of mind to participants. Unlike social groups that decided to sell tours, your company is built on a foundation of professional expertise and industry standards.

Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability is the heart of what we do! Green Edventures’s mission is to protect people, places, and ecosystems through sustainable tourism. We support conservation by donating to the Amazon Rainforest Conservancy to preserve critical habitats, wildlife corridors, and carbon sinks.

Our wildlife tours work with licensed and permitted operators and follow ecotourism principles, ensuring wildlife is observed responsibly and without harassment. Participants are educated on avoiding purchases of items that are endangered, illegal, or unethical.

Each trip includes environmental education to help participants understand ecosystems and their impact. We hire local operators and accommodations, keeping tourism funds within communities and supporting their sustainability.

With small group sizes averaging 12 participants, we reduce environmental impact while offering meaningful, transformative travel experiences. Green Edventures inspires participants to connect with nature, respect wildlife, and protect our planet through responsible tourism.

Single Supplement Policy

Our prices are per person double occupancy with partner matching. If there is an odd number of participants, there are no forced-single supplement fees to anyone without a roommate. We have a limited number of rooms per tour set aside for participants to upgrade to a room of their own at most destinations
