You will explore ancient temples, royal halls, nomadic camps, and bustling bazaars while meeting the shepherds, weavers, painters, dyers, and designers who have sustained the region’s diverse cultural heritage. This journey allows you to connect the common threads and unique characteristics of Ladakh’s story with your own, providing a deep and meaningful education about this region’s cultural richness.

• History of the Silk Road and its connection to Ladakh’s region, textile production and trade.
• Immerse in Ladakhi culture at centuries-old monasteries, vibrant villages, multi-generational homes, traditional markets and crafts workshops, including a hands-on Pashmina Workshop!
• Spend the day with the Changpa community, nomadic pastoralists. and learn about their daily lives and valued livestock, the Pashmina goat, known locally as the Changra.

Led by experienced Ladakhi cultural specialist, Laura Kozaitis and textile historian Monisha Ahmed, you’ll be guided by experts who are passionate about Himalayan culture. They will share their knowledge and stories, weaving a tapestry of experiences that highlight the role of fabrics in the region’s diverse cultural heritage.
