“This beautiful photo was taken when we visited Mother care tailoring school after a big women safari with our international partner Women’s Travel Club, Where we jointly donated an over lock machine to this school. Ma=ama Alice teaches young mothers, girl teenager school drop outs how to sew and make a living doing it. She has run that school for 30 years charging a very small monthly fee however they were not able to buy the overlock machine for the school for all this period. We are so grateful for all the help they are giving the young mothers.”
We employ 90% women in our company and we give a percentage profit on each of our safaris to different causes that are women centered. We have donated ultra-always pads to different orphanage schools run by women and Batwa community where we trek gorillas.
However we have started Women tour Uganda Angels where a percentage profit from our safaris is put aside and we become an angel to different Ugandan selected single mother entrepreneurs. We look at their business needs in terms of finance, their level of commitment to their business, their defendants and then donate a substantial amount in their small business without any expectation of profit or ownership. We also advice them on what to improve in their business with the help of our operations manager Mr. Peter Kabiri. We noticed that many single mother entrepreneurs in Uganda don’t need too much funds in their businesses and they don’t have easy access to credit. These mothers take care of their children, families, communities and we hope when their businesses grow they will help other single mother entrepreneurs.
We know that Women tour Uganda wouldn’t be where it is now if we didn’t have Angels.
Women travelers need to appreciate traveling together with other women, to compliment each other, appreciate one another and above all empower one another. Gone are the years that women used to put each other down, these are the years that women empower, appreciate and compliment each other.
