Women Travel Abroad

Katherine Butler-Dines, CEO of Women Travel Abroad

Ease, Comfort, Style

Women’s travel is our entire business. We were founded out of the desire to create connections for military spouses and single women. Many women are eager to travel but don’t have a buddy to go with. Our clients are widowed, divorced, their partner is deployed, or their friends/families just don’t want to go to the same destinations as them. They’re tired of waiting around for others and are ready to go see the world.

We are big fans of solo travel but recognize it’s intimidating for many women. Safety, comfort, and ease are core concerns for female travelers. Plus, part of what makes travel meaningful is the chance to discuss what you see, taste, and learn with others who’ve shared your experience. This is why we’re committed to small-group women’s tours. We fill the gap between solo travel and traditional group trips. In a small group setting, connections flourish. Women can bond over shared experiences, creating friendships that last far beyond the trip. Unlike larger tours, where cliques can form and solo travelers might feel overlooked, small groups foster inclusivity and genuine interaction.

Women Travel Abroad (WTA)

We specialize in premium small-group travel experiences for women, fostering connection, adventure, and cultural immersion. Founded in 2014, we aimed to fill a gap in the travel market. Women craving meaningful travel often missed safety, ease, and camaraderie in solo or large-group tours. Today, we are a trusted leader in boutique women-only journeys. Our life-changing adventures balance exploration, comfort, and authentic connection.

Our commitment to small-group tours sets us apart. With just 6-10 travellers per group, the experience is intimate and personalized. This exclusive size allows us to provide tailored itineraries, meaningful interactions, and unforgettable memories. Each journey fosters genuine connections while delivering the highest standards of comfort and care.

  • Tailored itineraries featuring boutique accommodations and private guided tours.
  • Exclusive cultural experiences, such as crafting leather slippers in Morocco or tasting wine in hidden French vineyards.
  • A focus on women’s perspectives, with female guides who bring destinations to life through their stories.
  • Ease and comfort, including single-occupancy rooms, private transfers, and all meals à la carte.
  • Each trip is accompanied by at least one WTA-trained host, ensuring seamless service and fostering an environment where women can connect with confidence.

Immersive Journeys Across the Globe

We take women to iconic and off-the-beaten-path destinations, offering experiences beyond typical sightseeing. Our tours explore vibrant cities like Buenos Aires and serene escapes like the Amalfi Coast. Travellers can also visit the wildlife-rich savannahs of South Africa or the tranquil rainforests of Costa Rica.

Every detail is meticulously planned, ensuring ease and comfort throughout the journey. Standard features include private transfers, à la carte dining with all meals included, and single-occupancy rooms.

While we foster a sense of community, we also respect travellers’ need for privacy and self-care during their adventures.

Commitment to Sustainability

We focus on sustainability by:

1) Supporting Local Economies: We partner with local vendors, female guides, and small businesses to ensure the communities we visit directly benefit from tourism, fostering economic growth and cultural preservation.

2) Eco-Friendly Transportation: Whenever possible, we prioritize walking, biking, and public transportation like trains for city tours and intercity travel, reducing our carbon footprint while offering a more immersive experience.

3) Minimizing Food Waste: By allowing guests to order à la carte at restaurants, we empower them to choose exactly what they want, minimizing waste and supporting sustainable dining practices.

4) Staying in Sustainable Accommodations: We prioritize boutique hotels and accommodations that align with eco-friendly practices, such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and support for local staff and artisans.

5) Educating and Empowering Travelers: We encourage guests to adopt sustainable habits on trips, like using reusable water bottles, shopping responsibly for local crafts, and respecting the natural environment and cultural sites we visit.

These practices allow us to explore the world responsibly, leaving a positive impact on the communities we visit while preserving destinations for future generations.

Single Supplement Policy

All our pricing is based on single occupancy. We do offer double occupancy discounts ($300-$1000, depending on the trip), but 95% of our travelers select to have single occupancy. If a guest marks they’re interested in double occupancy, we will try to match them with a roommate (assuming at least one other traveler also wants to share) based on common factors like bedtime schedule, morning routines, etc. Travelers who come as friends on a trip together can select to share a room.

Two women stop to take a photo while on a hiking trip. Traveling more sustainably is one way women can make a difference in travel.
